Species of birds seen in Knolls Wood
| The lack of a well developed understorey that is used for cover may be affecting the birds and small mammal populations, but more typical woodland bird species are present in reasonable numbers. Once again we would welcome members' and visitors' contributions in terms of 'sightings', photographs or information on the birds and animals seen in the woods. This list is by no means complete but based on observations and previous records. |

Species of mammals observed
| Although no specific survey has been undertaken we don't believe there is a wide variety of wildlife. Badgers have been seen (an old sett is known but not necessarily still in use) and muntjac are common. Grey squirrels also thrive in large numbers in the wood. |

Species of insects observed
Again no specific survey has been undertaken so we would welcome any observations or help in surveying that any budding insectologists might be able to provide.
