About Knolls Wood

Knolls Wood is situated one mile north of Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire.
Covering an area of nearly 4 hectares, it is bordered on the North side by Sandy Lane and on the West by Plantation Road.  It has been designated an area of Great Landscape Value and is covered by Tree Preservation Orders thanks to its range of exotic and ornamental tree specimens.

Our aim is simple - we want people to appreciate and enjoy the plants, trees and animals

that this special location supports, for many years to come.  We have an ongoing calendar of events which is not only designed to raise awareness of the natural habitat but also to educate

our children to appreciate their surroundings.

Our more detailed aims

• Our principal aim is to maintain, regenerate and enhance the overall appearance of the site, reflecting its history, location, amenity and potential education value
• The focus of the management is to preserve important specimen trees while

enhancing the rest of the woodland

• To be cognizant of and supportive to the Climate Change debate
• To monitor long-term planning and involve the local community
• To preserve the history of the woods
• To work with the Greensand Trust (GST) and Central Beds Council (CBC) to maintain Knolls Wood
• To prevent exploitation of, or threats to, the woodland and local environment
